Everyone associated with the One River project mourns the recent loss of Tom Trevorrow, esteemed Ngarrindjeri elder and community leader and a veteran campaigner for his people’s homelands in the southern reaches of the Murray River.
Tom was a generous and inspirational teacher, communicator and leader, quietly but effectively reaching out to people from all cultural backgrounds, particularly through work undertaken by him and his family at Camp Coorong, near Goolwa in South Australia.
We felt privileged to have Tom as a member of our reference group for the One River project. We were delighted to share his company at the launch of the One River project in Goolwa in Oct 2012, and to hear him speak about his country and what the local landscape means to the Ngarrindjeri and part of the Kumuwuki conference. He will be missed enomrously and we extend our sincere condolences to the Trevorrow family and to the broader Ngarrindjeri community.
